Responsibilities/Context of the Function:

As a Researcher Engineer at CRM Group, you'll be at the forefront of driving innovation in the green and digital transition of energy-intensive industries, particularly in the metal industry. Here's what you'll be responsible for:

• Leading R&D projects aimed at developing innovative processes for enhanced performance, energy efficiency, digitalization, and decarbonization.
• Collaborating closely with internal and external partners to leverage their expertise in project execution.
• In charge of sensor installations and advanced technologies.
• Developing and/or deploying models using physical, deep learning, machine learning, cloud, embedded IoT devices and AI techniques.
• Designing and realizing simulation test benches and lab prototypes.
• Conducting trials at lab, pilot, and industrial scales.
• Supervising technicians' work and reporting results to internal and external stakeholders.
• Contributing to the active development and diversification of the regional, European, and international R&D network through idea generation and project proposal writing.

Constitution of the Team:

You'll be an integral part of our multidisciplinary team based in Ghent – Zwijnaarde, alongside engineers and high-level technicians. Your office will be located in Zwijnaarde, close to our state-of-the-art laboratories and pilot installations. Deplacement needed to the headquarter in Liege 1 time per week.

Working Environment:

Your workspace will be at the Techlane Campus in Zwijnaarde, strategically positioned near our rolling, cooling, lubrication, and pickling facilities.

Profile of the Candidate:

KNOWLEDGE:

Master's degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, or a related discipline.

Proficiency in Electromechanics, Mechanics, and/or Automation.

Programming experience : Python, Tensorflow/keras, application of AI,…

Design and understanding of electrical drawings with knowledge of e-plan is a plus

LANGUAGES:

Dutch: Willingness to learn.

English: Fluent.

French: Willingness to learn.

COMPETENCES:

Experience is not required.

Creativity and proactivity.

Willingness to learn and develop new skills.

Relevant experience in project management is an asset.

Personal interest in Industry 4.0 topics (XR, machine learning, AI, digital twins) is advantageous.
