Context

CRM Group is involved in several Regional and European initiatives dealing with Circular Economy (Reverse Metallurgy, Circular Wallonia, Flanders Metals Valley, EIT Raw Materials,…) and related industrial projects with metal producers and recyclers.

CRM Group aims to actively contribute to the European and regional Recovery and Resilience Plans, by developing new eco-friendly technologies and eco-designed products favouring the sustainable use of metals in the process and manufacturing industries, with a particular focus on the circularity of Critical Metals requested by the Digital and Energy Transitions.

Responsabilities

Within the Unit “Metal Production & Recycling”,

  • you will be in charge of studies and projects dealing with the recycling of metallic by-products and end-of-life products through pyrometallurgy;
  • you will also contribute in the recyclability aspects of more transversal projects dealing with the design of new solutions for the energy transition (e.g. innovative battery or fuel cell components production).
  • you will plan and conduct trials (at lab, pilot or industrial scale), perform modelling work (e.g. using FactSage), collaborate with the Materials Characterisation Dpt for setting up new sampling and analysis procedures, interpret results and report them to the project partners and clients.
  • You will also contribute to the activity development and diversification at regional and European levels by generating new ideas and by the elaboration of new circular economy projects (a.o. under Horizon Europe) with academic and industrial partners.

Profile

  • Master degree in Engineering (Metallurgy, Chemistry, Materials) or equivalent;
  • Are considered a plus : experience or PhD in  thermochemical modelling (FactSage, HSC…), recycling of metals, high temperature processes, environmental legislation; some knowledge of French.Creativity and pro-activity, which makes you a real problem solver;
  • Team player, who possesses the necessary listening and communication skills;
  • Good knowledge of English;
