Mineral processing/Recycling of metals

At CRM Group, as a centre of excellence and research and development open to the world, we work on innovative projects with various sectors internationally.

We rely on our state-of-the-art equipment and the diversity of our 270 talents from more than 15 different nationalities to deliver products, processes and solutions to our customers and partners.

In the field of Recycling Processes, CRM Group has developed over the last ten years a recognised uspscaling capability based on specific expertise and lab- & pilot-scale infrastructure. On its Sart-Tilman site, different kinds of secondary raw materials or end-of-life products, like permanent magnets or shredded batteries, may be processed to recover metals for the benefit of the regional or EU economy, in sectors like metallurgy, manufacturing or renewable energy production. Processing steps concern a.o. demagnetisation, distillation under vacuum, agglomeration, remelting and smelting reduction. CRM Group is currently expanding its pilot-scale infrastructure by the erection of a unique plasma furnace prototype on the industrial site of Hydrométal in Engis, more specifically devoted to the recovery of Critical Metals essential to the Digital and Energy Transitions.

Within the Unit “Metal Production & Recycling”,

  • you will be involved in studies and projects dealing with the recycling of metal bearing by-products and end-of-life products through innovative pyrometallurgical techniques after appropriate smart pre-conditioning;
  • you will also contribute in the recyclability aspects of more transversal projects dealing with the design of new solutions for the energy transition (e.g. innovative battery or fuel cell components production).
  • you will be in charge of lab- and pilot-scale test work, including the needed equipment adaptations in autonomy or in collaboration with the Engineering Dpt, maintenance and safety plans, planning and management of trials, reporting and presentation of test results to clients.
